Living Jazz - Teaching Artist for Elementary School Band (4th & 5th Grade)

        Job Opportunity

Living Jazz transforms lives through the music, spirit, and culture of jazz in the Bay Area community, by educating students and artists of all ages and abilities. Living Jazz RootED is a tuition free weekly music and dance education and performance program for under-resourced Bay Area public elementary schools. Formerly the Living Jazz Children’s Project (LJCP) provides jazz rooted performing arts education. As of spring 2025, Living Jazz RootED now provides performing arts education to over 1,800 students in 21 public schools.

RootED means we are grounded in the powerful traditions of Jazz and the African-Diaspora, in the rhythms of resistance, joy, and connection. It also means we are rooted in community, in the stories of historically marginalized cultures, and in the belief that art can be a catalyst for change.
