        About the Position: 
        This position will play a crucial role in supporting the successful implementation of the Love Your Block Grant program by overseeing project management activities and tracking project metrics to measure impact and outcomes.

        Seeking Candidates With:

        • Community Engagement: Strong ties to the community either as a current resident or a previous longtime resident with active local connections. Commitment to improving neighborhoods and communities.
        • Strong Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse partners.
        • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
        • Project Management Skills: Understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and tools. Familiarity with grant management and compliance requirements is preferred. 
        • Software and Data Knowledge: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, project management software and data collection, analysis, and reporting.

         Current resident in the City of San Bernardino or A previous longtime resident with active local connections

        Essential Duties & Responsibilities

        ESSENTIAL DUTIES

        • Provides courteous and expeditious customer service to the general public and City department staff.  
        • Assists in the performance of City work for the purpose of gaining experience and training and accomplishing special department projects. 
        • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of Love Your Block grant projects, working closely with project partners, City staff, and community stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project execution.
        • Manage daily project activities for the Love Your Block program.
        • Create and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets.
        • Monitor progress and address issues during implementation.
        • Track project metrics and KPIs to measure impact, including community engagement and neighborhood improvements.
        • Develop systems for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
        • Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
        • Collaborate with city officials, community partners, and residents to promote engagement and volunteer recruitment.
        • Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders.
        • Document best practices and success stories for knowledge sharing.
        • Train residents to assist in mini-grant applications.
        • Routinely adheres to and maintains a positive attitude towards City and Department goals.
        • Performs related work as required.

        CORE COMPETENCIES


        Knowledge of:

        • Project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
        • Grant management and compliance requirements (preferred).
        • Data collection, analysis, and reporting, preferably in a community development or nonprofit setting.
        • Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

        Skills in:

        • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
        • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
        • Building local relationships and having strong ties to the community being served by Love Your Block program.
        • Passion for community development and a commitment to improving neighborhoods and communities.

        Minimum Qualifications

        Education and Experience: 

        Participants must be students, or continuing students between semesters/quarters, or students who recently completed a specific course of study and capable of performing assigned duties. 

        For this program: a Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, project management.

        AND

        At least two (2) years of experience in project management, community development, or a related field is preferred.
